About the Role

Position Summary

The SRCC Weekend Recycling Crew Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the weekend recycling operations.  This includes servicing events at various locations and the collection and sorting of beverage container recyclable material, e-waste, waste tire and as needed do storm drain stenciling, and used oil collection center site visits throughout SRCC service area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Weekend Recycling Crew Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the recycling staff, SRCC corpsmembers, fleet and customer service related to weekend recycling activities. 

 

Specific duties and responsibilities of the Weekend Recycling Crew Supervisor are varied.  The Weekend Recycling Crew Supervisor must:

  • Participate in and manage the daily roll call for SRCC work crews at the Main Campus.

  • Understand how to manage fleet including the preparation of driver routes, customer service training for drivers, accident and injury reports, emergency/field response.

  • Manage and maintain frequent, regular and reliable contact and communication with crews.

  • Develop relationships with existing clients in order to provide quality customer service; develop new clients, accounts and sources.

  • Perform a variety of related duties depending on Recycling Program’s needs.

  • Supervision, observation, reliability, and time management.

  • Understands the needs and circumstances of at-risk and high-risk young adults.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding, firmness, empathy and understanding with staff and corpsmembers from diverse ethnic, socio-economic and scholastic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Excellent and audience-appropriate communication skills, both oral and written, characterized by active listening and respectful two-way communications/interactions.

  • High level of dependability, accountability, and responsibility; positive self-attitude, self-discipline and professional courtesy; full participation as member of SRCC staff in terms of collaboration, cooperation and support of fellow staff members.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma and some college.  Preference will be given to candidates with a college degree and/or recycling, conservation or other environmental expertise.

  • Pass a drug screen test.

  • California Class C driver’s license plus validation of driving record and insurability.

  •  Must obtained passenger endorsement within 60 days of hire.

  • Minimum 40 hours per week of work with some overtime hours. Must be flexible in work assignments; though this is a weekend position, sometimes this position is required to serve on other projects/contracts/clients on weekday shifts.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with a variety of personalities and skill levels.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, and willingness for the job functions. 

  • Excellent communications skills with audience-appropriate skills, both oral and written characterized by active listening and respectful two-way communications/interactions.

  • General computer skills using PC formats SRCC Certification for Box and Stake Truck driving (14-to-16-foot length vehicles) within 30 days of hire.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
